In vitro fertilization has been the first revolution for those people who cannot have children, the first successful application in the world was made in London in 1978 and 10 years later, in 1988, it started to be implemented in our country as well. In vitro fertilization means fertilization in a laboratory environment, this process takes place in the tuba (tubes) of the female body and thus it has been translated into Turkish as “tüp bebek” (in vitro fertilization).

An emotionally wearing process will start and last about 15 to 20 days in total. An appropriate treatment protocol is determined for the woman after the evaluation of the ovarian reserve, and the process is started for the controlled ovarian stimulation (bringing all the eggs to the desired size with daily injections, strict USG and hormone monitoring). When the eggs are brought to the desired size, oocyte pick-up (egg collection process) is performed in the operating room environment ant the collected eggs are sent to the embryology laboratory. If the need for IVF treatment is not deriving from a male-related cause, the fertilization process is performed, using the sperm selected from the sperm sample taken by ejaculate (semen), by a conventional (traditional) or a microinjection process (the sperm is deposited into the egg with the help of a microscope).If there is no or insufficient sperm in the man, microinjection (leaving sperm into the egg with the help of a microscope) is performed by using sperm cells obtained by TESA, TESE or etc (finding sperm from the testis in the operating room), afterwards, the embryo transfer (placement in the uterus) is performed on the 2nd, 3rd or 5th day, considering the fertilization status and quality of the eggs.
